SANNIQUELLIE, Nimba – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has expressed her disappointment and frustration over the actions of Nimba lawmakers who missed the dedication ceremony of the newly constructed Judiciary Complex in Sanniquellie.

The facility took two years to build and was formally dedicated and opened to the public over the past weekend. The president was in town for the ribbon cutting. During the ceremony, she expressed disappointment that not a single lawmaker of the county was in attendance.

“It’s unfortunate that no member of the Nimba Legislative Caucus is here,” she said. “And all those who are contesting for the political leadership of Nimba are not here.”

Sirleaf noted that it was prudent for members of the caucus to have been present at the dedication ceremony because they were the ones who would benefit from the quality of service that would come out of the courts.

Meanwhile, the president has hailed Chief Justice Francis Korkpor and the Judiciary Branch for the timely completion of the court.

“I want to say that it was through strong determination that we were able to get to where we are,” she added. “We want to say thank you to all of them for the spirit of cooperation that they exhibited.”

In her final remarks, the president thanked that people of Nimba for making available the land that currently holds the judiciary complex. The completed facility is expected to host the Magisterial Court and other courts, as well as offices for other Judiciary actors assigned in Nimba.
