GREENVILLE, Sinoe – Employees at the Ministry of Internal Affairs office in Greenville are mourning the sudden and mysterious death of their colleague, whose body was found at the County Administrative Building on May 12.
Richard Kongar, a human resource personnel analyst, was found dead at about 7 p.m. on Sunday by a security guard who was making rounds at the compound after taking over the night shift.
Family sources told The Bush Chicken they believe there was foul play, as Kongar’s body had bruises on his arms and neck. A medical report issued by the F.J. Grand Referral Hospital noted that Kongar died before arriving at the hospital; however, no cause of death was provided.
Princess Palay, the foster daughter of the deceased, said her father left home that Sunday morning to prepare a personnel roster as part of a government process to audit the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ payroll.
“My father left the house early Sunday morning by 7 a.m., and he told us that he was going to his office to complete a task given to him by the superintendent,” Palay said.
Kongar’s body has been deposited at a funeral home in Greenville. Family members are calling on the government to dig deeper to establish the actual cause of his death.
Meanwhile, Sinoe’s superintendent, Peter Nyenswah, has declined to comment on the death.
Kongar’s death comes months after the death of another Ministry of Internal Affairs staff in Sinoe. President Joseph Boakai nominated his 2023 Unity Party campaign chairman in Sinoe, Alfred Seekey, to the post of county administration officer. However, in February, Seekey mysteriously died without any prior reports of illness. He served six years in a clerical position at the Sinoe County Service Center.
