Bong’s Education Officer Suspended for Abandoning Post

GBARNGA, Bong – The Ministry of Education has suspended Edward Kpulun from his post as county education officer of Bong for one month without pay, effective immediately.

According to the suspension letter, dated on Jan. 4, Kpulun was suspended for taking leave and traveling out of the country without notifying officials at the Ministry of Education.

According to the suspension letter, Kpulun used his assigned government vehicle even though George Wuo, the regional education officer, warned him not to do so.

The letter, signed by deputy minister for instruction Romelle A. Horton, made clear that such behavior from education officers would not be tolerated by her office.

During his suspension, Kpulun must also turn over properties belonging to the ministry, including the vehicle in his possession. The letter also requests Kpulun to submit a financial report of fees collected from high schools in Bong.

“Your reinstatement is contingent upon your submission of detailed financial reports of the 15% registration fees collected from all high schools in Bong County, as well as the results of a commissioned audit of your tenure,” the letter read.

Kpulun informed The Bush Chicken that he had received the suspension letter. However, even as he was suspended, he was still seen in Gbarnga driving his assigned government vehicle and visiting schools around the city.
