LISCR FC Departs Liberia For Algeria

ALGIERS, Algeria – Liberia’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives, LISCR FC, have departed Liberia for Algeria to play the first leg of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round qualifiers against USM Bel Abbes.

The Shipping Boys left the country on Saturday, November 24 via the Roberts International Airport with a 30-man delegation headed by the Liberia Football Association’s Executive Committee member Kelvin Bayoh.

The team transited through Abidjan, Ivory Coast before leaving for Tunisia to book a flight for Algeria. After a three-hour flight, the team arrived in the capital of Algeria, Algiers via the Houari Boumediene Airport. LISCR FC’s team then drove five hours from Algiers to Bel Abbes.

The team is expected to make its debut in the CAF Confederation Cup on Tuesday, November 27 when they take on USM Bel Abbes at the Stade de 24 Fevrier 1956. LISCR FC qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round after being defeated in the final of the 2018 Liberia Football Association Cup Competition.

The 2016-17 champions lost their title to Barrack Young Controllers that had already won the 2018 First Division. With Barrack Young Controllers winning the double titles, LISCR FC automatically qualified to play in the preliminary round of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup as Barrack Young Controllers couldn’t participate in two competitions at once.
