Patrick Wleh Delighted With Life in Egypt

Less than a month since he started training with his new club, Petrojet Football Club, the Liberian international striker Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh tells The Bush Chicken he’s already enjoying the new environment in the Egyptian Premier League.

Petrojet began their preseason trainings early in June with Wleh among the first set of players reporting for duty. Despite describing the first sessions with his new technical staff as a bit tough, Wleh who is yet to taste competitive football since November 2017, said he’s glad that he is participating because it will help him gain some level of fitness.

“Right now, we are doing some physical trainings,” he said. “It is everyday business. We are doing physical without touching the ball. It’s bit tough for me because I have been out of full club training for a long time. However, I’m very excited to be here among the first batch of players in training. It will help me recover and get some fitness before we go in depth with our training sessions.”

Prior to joining the Egyptian club, the striker made the news headlines following his leaked sex tape. However, it has appeared that he has gotten over the incident and is looking forward to getting back to his best form.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Wleh wrote, “The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings. A new chapter has begun and I’m looking forward to the new challenges.”

The former LISCR FC, PKNS FC, and Selangor FA striker won’t be wearing his favorite number on his shirt in the upcoming season. He has worn the No. 4 jersey throughout his career, but he will now be compelled to make a switch after he was told the number has already been taken. His latest post on his Instagram and Facebook pages showed him wearing No. 19.

“I came here and met a player wearing the No. 4 shirt. It’s a new team for me but has its old players that are still here. Right now, I cannot tell you which number I will be wearing when the season begins but I was handed the No. 19 shirt, which might be my shirt number also,” he said.

The 2018-19 Egyptian Premier League season is set begin August 3 and Wleh is hopeful of producing his best performances for his new employers.

“I came here to help the team win,” Wleh said. “It’s a different country and a different style of football. The season might begin in August and I hope I can do my best to help the team. It will be my first season and I’m working harder to help the team when the season begins.”

Wleh ended his five years of playing professional football in Malaysia after joining Petrojet last month. He signed a two-year deal with the Egyptian side with the option of extension.
