MONROVIA, Montserrado – The Senior Pastor of the Mission for Today Holy Church, Bishop P. Manasseh Conto, and his Assistant Pastor Steve Kettor on Monday, June 6, filed a criminal appearance bond valued at US$468,336 before Judge Emery S. Paye at the Temple of Justice.
On June 3, Paye incarcerated Conto and Kettor at the Monrovia Central Prison after they were indicted by a grand jury for theft of property and misappropriation of entrusted property.
Paye said the two individuals were ordered incarcerated after failing to file a valid criminal appearance bond to secure their release.
The two individuals were accused of colluding to sell vehicles belonging to the Korea Trading Corporation and steal the profits, in addition to renting vehicles to the World Food Programme and the US Marines without authorization.
Hungchi Choi ran the Korea Trading Corporation and had left the country during the Ebola outbreak in 2014, leaving a total of 31 vehicles in the care of Kettor, who joined with Conto to commit the alleged acts.
After spending three nights at the Monrovia Central Prison, Conto and Kettor finally secured a bond from the International Insurance Company Liberia Limited to have them released from detention.
No new date has been set for the hearing of the case.
