The Liberia Studies Association has announced its 50th anniversary conference to take place between April 19 and 21, in the United States.
The association is a non-profit scholarly organization that comprises of researchers in disciplines relevant to Liberia.
According to organizers, the association has been an active part of the process of institutionalizing discussions about Liberia through various forms of academic research by facilitating the enhancement of effective cooperation among persons interested in furthering research in all scholarly disciplines, including the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
According to the association, the 50th anniversary conference will bring together a range of students, academics, and policy-makers to develop new ideas and thinking about scholarship on Liberia.
It will be hosted by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the College of Liberal Arts at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
A press release issued by the organization said the 50th anniversary offers a moment for critical examinations about the study and understanding of Liberia across the globe. Meanwhile, the conference aims to also establish networks that sustain the conversation and the exchange of ideas on Liberia.
Scholars, faculty, and practitioners can pay US$100 to register for the conference, while the fees for students is US$50.
The Liberia Studies Association also publishes the second oldest African studies journal in the United States, the Liberian Studies Journal.
