KONOLA, Margibi – At least four persons are reported dead as a result of a tragic motor tragic accident along the Suakoko Highway in Margibi.
The incident occurred around the Konola at about 11:00 a.m. on Friday when a Nissan Pathfinder heading to Monrovia from Gbarnga collided with a Nissan Sunny station wagon traveling in the opposite direction.
According to medical reports from the government-run C. H. Rennie Hospital, three persons were pronounced dead on arrival while another died onboard the ambulance on the way to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital.
The deceased include Obley Copper, Martha Carter, Mercy Sumo, and another woman whose identity has not yet been established.
According to the police, all of the deceased were passengers onboard the station wagon.
Meanwhile, four other persons, including Julius Dunor, 20, Oldman Fwegar 39, Henry Kollie 18, Timothy Saar, 30, are currently undergoing medical treatment at health centers in Margibi and Montserrado as a result of major and minor injuries they sustained from the accident.
The Nissan Pathfinder driver, Klemani Gbelema, was the only person who did not sustain significant injuries in the accident.
He said he was on his way from Gbarnga to Monrovia to get ready to book a flight to travel to the United Bong Citizens Association’s 2018 annual conference in the U.S. when he met the unfortunate encounter.
“I can’t even tell how the accident occurred,†he said. “All I can say is thank God for my life and [I’m] deeply sorry to the family of those who lost their lives.â€
Officers of the Liberia National Police traffic division in Margibi are investigating circumstances leading to the accident.
