• LIBERIA SIGNS US$20M LOAN FOR RIA’S REHABILITATION- Following prolonged discussions and negotiations, the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Amara M. Konneh, has on behalf of the Liberian Government, signed a US$20 Million loan agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development to assist with the rehabilitation of the Roberts International Airport (RIA’s) runway.** (TheNewDawnLiberia)

• Labour Minister justifies issuance of permits to foreigners – The Ministry of Labour  indicated that it is reviewing the process of granting work permits to non-Liberians in order to protect Liberians on the job market. As per Liberia’s labour law, every foreign national who wants to work in the country needs a work permit for Liberia. The law also provides that no foreigner is permitted to work in Liberia unless they are in possession of a work permit and that there is no qualified Liberian to occupy such vacancy.(FrontPageAfrica)

• LIBERIA:DIVORCED CLERGY BARRED FROM NOMINATION AS BISHOP IN LIBERIA- Efforts to overturn a long-standing provision barring divorced clergy nomination for bishop in The United Methodist Church in Liberia were rejected by conference delegates on April 18. United Methodists who wanted the ban lifted picketed with homemade signs and sang, halting one afternoon session of the conference.[..] Those opposed to the bar argued the provision violated the rights of individuals who wanted to run for the Episcopal office, since the bar is not in the Book of Discipline.(GNNLiberia)
