GANTA, Nimba – Construction has begun on a 36-classroom vocational and technical School funded by the Prince Yormie Johnson Educational Foundation through its founder, Senator Prince Yormie Johnson.

According to the Nimba senator, the project is his way of expressing his level of gratitude to the people of Nimba for their love and support. At the launch of the project three months ago, Johnson said the project is a fulfillment of his dream to give back.

The senator pointed out that it was time for Nimba to have a modern educational facility. He added that it was unfair to have students leave the county to go to the Booker Washington Institute in Kakata and Monrovia Vocational Training Center to acquire technical skills.

“We do not have one [technical school] here,” Johnson added. “We have seen the need to build one in our county, and this is why we are doing it. Monrovia is not the only part of Liberia that should have all the good things.”

The lawmaker put the entire cost of the project at US$1.5 million. When completed, the project will be the first of its kind in the history of the county.
