Liberian striker Abu Razard Kamara has gotten his name registered among the list of players that have scored in European club competitions after scoring once to help his club NK Rudar send Sammarinese club, Societa Ploisportiva Tre Fiori, out of the 2018-19 Europa League qualifiers.
Kamara scored in the 71st minute to help his side grab an entertaining 3-0 win over Tre Fiori in the return of the 2018-19 Europa League first round qualifiers. The 21-year-old Liberian got his side third goal at the Stadio Tullo Morgagni in San Marino to help them reach the second-round qualifications.
Going into the match with a 99 percent chance of advancing to the second-round qualifiers following a huge 7-0 win in the first leg on Thursday, July 12, NK Rudar had no pressure on their shoulders with the return leg appearing like a party game.
Fiori made no use of the home field advantage to get a win from the two-leg qualifier’s as they bowed to Kamara’s side after the sound of the final whistle.
They suffered the consequences of their poor display on the pitch when NK Rudar got the opener in the 43rd minute. Slovenian defender Klemen Bolha got the first goal two minutes to the stoppage time of the first half before Croatian forward Vlatko Simunac got the second after the break. The 28-year-old attacker scored three minutes into the second half to make the score 2-0 for NK Rudar.
With a comfortable 2-0 lead, the match was all fun for the visitors and Kamara made use of the opportunity to register his first goal in a European club competition. The former KF Feronikeli striker added his name on the scoresheet in 71st minute with a beautiful finish from inside the penalty area. Kamara’s goal was the final for the game as Fiori failed to pull one back until the end of the match.
The 3-0 win away from home means the Slovenian side reaches the second-round qualifiers with a 10-0 aggregate win. NK Rudar’s next opponent in the Europa League qualifiers is Romanian League One club, Football Club Steaua Bucuresti, which finished second in the 2017-18 league table.
For Kamara and his teammates, the victory and qualification in the Europa League qualifiers came at the perfect time, with the club set to begin their 2018-19 Slovenian league campaign on Sunday, July 22 against NK Maribor. Kamara’s club will host Maribor and hope their good form continues.
