After helping his team get promoted to the Maltese Premier League, Liberian international defender Adolphus Nagbe Marshall says he’s excited to play with his club Gudja United when the 2019-20 season kicks off.
Gudja United finished second in the 2018-19 Maltese First Division and gained automatic promotion to the Maltese Premier League. Since becoming a professional footballer in 2008 when he signed with Indonesian club PSIR Rembang, Marshall has never played in a top-flight league.
With his team Gudja United set to play in the 2019-20 Premier League, the Liberian international said he has received offers from other clubs, especially in the Scandinavian region. However, he said he’s looking forward to playing the 2019-20 season with the team he helped reach the peak of Maltese football.
Speaking on the KMTV Sports show over the weekend, Marshall said his dream has come to pass and he wants to live Gudja United.
“I’m excited to have helped my club reach the Maltese Premier League. It wasn’t an easy task, especially coming from the second division and playing against clubs that have stayed in the first division and are very experienced. We managed to finish second and got promoted to the premier league,†Marshall said.
The Maltese First Division ended on Sunday, April 28 with Gudja United being defeated 2-1 by the eighth-place club, Mqabba FC.
