Two months after joining Maltese second division club Gudja United Football Club, Liberia international defender Adolphus Nagbe Marshall has won his first match in the league.
Marshall played all 90 minutes of the match to push Gudja to a 4-0 win over Luqa St. Andrew Football Club on the fourth match day of the second division league. Goals from Nicolas Zammit, Jean Claude Cesare, Christian Cassar, and Joseph Chetcuti were enough to help Gudja pick up their first three points.
The club began the season on a disappointing note after failing to get a win in their three opening matches. They began the season with a 1-1 draw with Kalkara at home before playing to a scoreless draw against Marsaxlokk FC. Their slow start to the new league season got worse in their third match when they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mgarr United.
The 4-0 win against Luqa took Gudja to the eighth place on the league table with five points from eight games. They will go in search of their second win of the season when they host Gharghur on Saturday, October 14.
Marshall ended his seven years of playing his professional football career when he joined Gudja United during the just-ended summer transfer. The center defender, who also plays as a left back, joined the Gudja-based club on a one-year deal with the option of extension at the end of the season.
