GBARNGA, Bong − The United Bong County Association in the Americas has donated food items to orphans and members of the disabled community in the county ahead of Liberia’s 177th Independence Day celebrations.
Rice, vegetable oil, Maggi cubes, and salt were presented separately to several orphanages, disabled persons, and the Suakoko Leprosy Rehab Center. The association is a grouping of Bong citizens across the United States.
During the presentation, UBCAA’s country program director, Fernandez Kellen, said the donation was the group’s initial support in helping to address some of the needs of vulnerable people in the county.
“These are some of the neediest folks of our society, and nothing pleases us more than putting smiles on their faces,” Kellen said. “Thanks to all our donors and sponsors and the able leadership of President Caimon Joe Kollie for the gesture.”
He pledged the organization’s commitment to continue providing humanitarian aid to sons and daughters of Bong.
Arthur Bono, who heads the disabled community in Bong, and Feleta Naimen of the Rainbow Town Orphanage said they were pleased that the donations would allow them to have a great Independence Day celebration.
Bono and Naimen lavished praises on the UBCAA for continuously supporting marginalized groups in Bong over the past years.
