Bong LDEA Sends 5 Alleged Drug Traffickers to Court

GBARNGA, Bong – The Bong detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency has forwarded five persons to court for trafficking drugs.

They include Alex Teah, Christ Cole, Enoch Sayweh, Ezekiel Zayzay, and Jannet Paye.  Cole and Teah are residents of Monrovia, while Paye and Zayzay reside in Gbarnga. Sayweh is a resident of Nimba.

The LDEA Commander in Bong, Gilbert Roberts, told The Bush Chicken that the five suspects were arrested separately with several wraps of Kush and Marijuana totaling over 128 kilograms.

Roberts said he and his team of LDEA officers in Bong are working hard to make sure the County is free from drug traffickers. He said Bong is “one of the epicenters of drug traffickers in Liberia.”

The influx of these substances in Liberia, he noted, continues to “recklessly kill the younger generation daily.”

Roberts wants citizens of the county to collaborate with the LDEA and provide information on drug dealers in the county. He said this would greatly help the LDEA in combating the prevalence of drugs in the county.

He stressed the importance of community cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, emphasizing the agency’s responsibility to safeguard Liberia’s image and protect its citizens from the perils of drug abuse.

Roberts took over the LDEA in Bong on June 4, 2024, and has since vowed that the LDEA would not rest on the issue of drugs in the County, adding that they will continue to be strong in making sure that Bong County becomes an illegal substance-free county.

“We as LDEA officers are under obligation to protect, enhance, and maintain the image of Bong County and Liberia at large,” Roberts noted.

Roberts highlighted the detrimental impact of drug trafficking on the younger generation, expressing his determination to eliminate the influx of illegal substances in Bong.

Roberts said the LDEA is deploying more officers at the various entry points in the county and called on the government to provide mobility to enhance the operations of the LDEA in Bong.

The LDEA is a semi-autonomous agency under the supervisory authority of the Ministry of Justice, responsible for effective and efficient enforcement of laws about controlled drugs, and substances.
