HARBEL, Margibi –The Prayers Network for Women Empowerment, a local Christian women’s organization, stated that it is working to raise up “God-fearing leaders†to lead the country following the 2017 Presidential and Legislative elections.
Formerly called the Harbel Christian Women Association, the organization was founded in 1994 to unite Christian women in Harbel.
“As we go toward a major election in our country, our prayer is that God should raise a God-fearing leader to lead our nation,†Rev. Helena Charlie, the group’s president, said.
Currently, there are members in more than 16 local churches in Margibi and is working to promote Christian fellowship and empower women through social initiatives.
Charlie said for too long Liberia has suffered bad leadership and underdevelopment due to fearlessness for God among national leaders.
She said her organization has recently concluded a 40-day fast and prayer in collaboration with some other women in Bernards Farm, near Monrovia.
In the next few months, the women will continue to hold prayer summits ahead of the 2017 elections.
“Any people that will make the Almighty God their God, will always reign in peace – any people who stand to obey what God says to them will enjoy the blessings of God,†Charlie said.
