ZORZOR, Lofa – Former Foreign Minister Augustine Ngafuan has said his political ambitions for 2017 does not in any way bring conflict between him and Vice President Joseph Boakai.
In a special interview with The Bush Chicken while en route to Kolahun, Ngafuan said it would not be the first time that two or more people from the same county were vying for the presidency. He added that the 2005 and 2011 elections witnessed multiple sons and daughters of Lofa contesting for the presidency.
When asked about his contributions to his homeland, Ngafuan was quick to outline several contributions including advocacy for the future Gbarnga-Menekoma Highway, the establishment of the Lofa Community College, and several others. He said these contributions were made when he served as minister of finance, before his appointment at the foreign ministry.
Meanwhile, Ngafuan has remained quiet on whether he intends to continue his membership with the ruling Unity Party where Boakai has already clarified his intentions to run. He said his decision about his membership in the party would come after his ongoing political consultations for 2017.
But Ngafuan maintained that Unity Party needs to do more in meeting the needs of the Liberian people in light of its promises.
