Liberian nationals Sam Johnson and Dioh Williams were on target over the past weekend as they helped their clubs with victories in round two of the 2016 Sweden Allsvenskan.
Veteran striker Dioh Williams came off the bench to score in the 85th minute as his club Gefle IF secured a narrow 2-1 win away at GIF Sundsvall.
Sundsvall took an eighth-minute lead and prevented Gefle from scoring throughout the first half as the teams headed into the half-time break.
Back from the break, Gefle had to wait until the 60th minute to level the score through 24-year old Swedish midfielder Anders Bååth.
Fourteen minutes after levelling the score, Dioh was introduced into the match as Gefle’s first substitution. He replaced Finnish attacker Simon Skrabb.
Dioh’s introduction to the pitch brought a lively performance for Gefle, with some threatening attacks but were all denied by Sundsvall until Dioh got the match-winner five minutes from the sound of stoppage time.
The win took Gefle to fifth on the Allsvenskan table with four points when Dioh scored his first goal from his first league appearance. He was absent from Gefle’s squad that got a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Helsingborg in their opening match of the 2016 league season.
Fast moving attacker, Sam Johnson registered his name on the scoresheet twice as his club, Djurgården, got an easy 5-0 victory over Falkenberg at the Tel 2 Arena.
Johnson opened the scoring during the sixth minute before Mathias Ranégie doubled DjurgÃ¥rden’s lead from the spot seven minutes later.
Johnson made the score 3-0 in the 54th minute and assisted Kevin Walker who added DjurgÃ¥rden’s fourth in the 67th minute. Gambian striker Omar Colley wrapped up the score in the 71st minute with a close-range effort.
Djurgården sits on top of the Allsvenskan table with six points from two matches while Sam Johnson has three goals to his name from two matches.
He scored the opener as Djurgarden won their first league game 2-0 away at Orebro.
Amadaiya Rennie was an unused substitute in his club, Hammarby 4-1 defeat away at Elfsborg.
The 26-year-old was left out of Hammarby’s squad in their 1-1 draw with Östersunds FK in the league opener. The defeat leaves Hammarby 14th in the league, two places from the last place with a single point.
