The Liberia Football Association’s Mustapha Raji has been elected as vice president for the West African Football Union Zone A.
The Liberian football boss was elected to the position on Saturday, October 12 at the WAFU congress that took place in Thies, Senegal ahead of the 2019 Wafu Cup of Nations final.
Immediately after being elected, Raji took to Twitter to extend his thanks and appreciation to Liberians for the support.
“Thanks to Liberia and I’m grateful to serve WAFU zone A and football in general,” he wrote.
In response to Raji’s election, President George Manneh Weah sent his congratulations, tweeting, “The government and people of Liberia are very proud of you. We have no doubt that you will serve with dignity and distinction.”
Raji becomes the second Liberian to hold the position. In 2011, former LFA president Musa Bility was also elected vice president of the regional football body.
