Mysterious Death of Bomi’s Chief of Operations Under Investigation

TUBMANBURG, Bomi – Police in Bomi have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of the newly promoted deputy police commander for operations, Friday Kangar.

The deputy police commander was rushed to the Liberia Government Hospital on May 7 after neighbors noticed blood and other fluids coming out of his ears and mouth.

Johnny Norris, the deputy commander of the Liberia National Police in Bomi, said Karngar had led the security operations at the induction ceremony for the newly appointed local government officials the day before.

After reporting to the police station, Norris said Karngar told his colleagues that he would go home to rest. The police would not know his condition until they heard that he was taken to the hospital.

“He did not tell us about further operation after he left the induction program,” Norris added. “We have launched an investigation to find out what led to his death.”

Before his demise, Karngar served as a commander at the Sackie Town Depot in rural Senjeh District. He was later assigned as commander of the Gbah Jarkeh Township Depot before being elevated in early March 2024 to county-wide chief of operations.

Karngar’s family told The Bush Chicken that the late officer left behind three children and a wife in her eighth month of pregnancy. Meanwhile, the family is calling for an autopsy to establish the cause of Karngar’s death.
