MONROVIA, Montserrado – A dismissed officer of the Liberia National Police, Alexander Toe, who was recently accused of cheating several individuals in search of rental properties, has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment at the Monrovia Central Prison.
Toe is currently the administrator of his late father Albert Toe property in the New Matadi Estate.
On Wednesday, June 15, Judge John L. Griggs handed down a guilty verdict against the defendant due to overwhelming evidence of duping two complainants out of US$1,600.
Griggs said in addition to time in prison, Toe has also been ordered to refund the complainants’ money.
The Monrovia City Court on May 3, 2016, issued a writ of arrest accusing Toe of taking money from Grace Gayflorzee and Benette Karneh for apartments and never providing them with the home.
During police investigation, Toe confessed to the crime and he was sentenced to prison based on the complaints from Gayflorzee and Karneh.
On June 3, the police dismissed Toe from its ranks for his actions.
Prior to the sentencing, another writ of arrest landed Toe in prison on June 6, after he was allegedly accused of duping 20 individuals out of US$17,030 for apartments in the New Matadi Estate community. He never turned over those apartments to them.
