PAYNESVILLE, Montserrado – Police in Monrovia are interrogating three persons for their involvement in purchasing several voter registration cards.
Sam Collins, spokesperson, Liberia National Police told The Bush Chicken that the three individuals are residents of the King Gray community, in Paynesville.
Sam named the three individuals as Stephen Cooper, aged 33, Christian Batee, aged 19, and Raymond Batee, aged 20.
According to Collins, the three individuals purchased the voter registration cards of sixteen persons in the Susan Barrie community.
“The police are interrogating the three individuals to ascertain the whereabouts of the money used to purchase the voter registration cards,†he added.
He said the cards retrieved from the three individuals bear the names of Prince Tyler, Maude Swen, Jackson Blay, Stephen Cooper, Francis Quoi, Winston Cooper, Amos Weah, and Clarence Gray.
Other names according to Collins are James Jackson, Kelvin Massaley, Cyrus Garway, Boakai Sirleaf, Nathan Shirley, Abraham Dorley, and Usher Creak.
Collins also said that the LNP will vigorously go after those individuals who are involved in cheating during this voter registration process and forward them to court for prosecution.
The ongoing voter registration process has been plagued by issues. In Nimba, registrants have complained about untrained and seemingly illiterate staff. In other places, people have reported malfunctioning cameras. Additionally, there have been numerous reports of non-citizens registering with no hindrance.
