The goal scoring form of Sam Johnson continues as the forward was again on target on Tuesday in the Djurgardens 3-1 home defeat to Hammarby IF, the club of fellow Liberian Amadaiya Rennie.
Hammarby, the away team, took a twelfth-minute lead through Brazilian forward Alexssander Medeiros de Azeredo before Sam Johnson leveled the score for Djurgardens in the 25th minute.
Again, Hammarby took the lead for the second time in 41st minute through Alexssander Medeiros de Azevedo, who got his second of the match.
There was no goal for Djurgardens in the remaining four minutes of the first half as they went to the first half break down 2-1.
With Djurgardens in need of an equalizer, the opening minutes of the second half were full of fireworks from both sides, but it has Hammarby that proved supreme after netting the third goal in the 62nd minute through Swedish midfielder Erik Israelsson.
The goal was Johnson’s fifth goal of the season from four league matches.
Despite the defeat, Djurgardens remains on top of the league table with 9 points while Hammarby moved up to fifth in the Allsvenskan table with seven points.
Amadaiya Rennie was left out of Hammarby’s squad for the second time this season. The former SK Brann forward is yet to play a single minute in the 2016 Swedish league.
Djurgardens will be hoping to return to winning when the team travels away to Malmo on Sunday, April 24 while Hammarby will be in search of their third league win when they travel away host third place Jönköpings Södra IF on Saturday, April 23.
