Sen. Joseph Donates US$630,000 in Medical Supplies to Grand Bassa Health Team

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa – Montserrado’s Sen. Saah Joseph has presented a consignment of medical drugs and equipment to the Grand Bassa County Health Team that he estimates at over US$630,000.

Joseph said the items presented on June 9 at the end of a Senate retreat in Buchanan were made available by his U.S. partner, Gateway Medical Alliance, with the help of the Liberian government through its duty-free policy.

He expressed steadfast support for the country’s healthcare system, adding, “This is just the beginning of our intervention in the health sector. Our international partner, Gateway Medical Alliance, has secured 150 containers full of medicines and equipment to be shipped to Liberia, and we will make sure every county benefits.”

Joseph said the donation to the Grand Bassa County Health Team was part of the first phase of supplies given to county health teams; the next round will target specific health facilities, which will be asked to list their most needed medical supplies.

Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, who represents Grand Bassa and is Senate president pro tempore, received the supplies on behalf of the county and lauded her colleague for the intervention.

Karnga-Lawrence acknowledged the role of her colleague in the health sector and called on the citizens of Grand Bassa to continue to support their leaders.

Many political pundits have named Sen. Joseph as someone who may be angling to run in 2029 as either a presidential or vice-presidential candidate.
