GANTA, Nimba – During the official dedication of the Gbarnga to Ganta-Guinea Border Road on Monday, Superintendent Fong G. Zuagele said he would return the favor to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for her kind gesture towards the people of Nimba.
“We say here in Nimba County in the Man Language, ‘Kun-Seh-leh Kunseh Kunseh,’ which really means ‘Kindness generated, is bound to generate kindness,’,†He said.
“We the people of Nimba County are obliged to return your kindness. And we will do so overwhelmingly,†Zuagele added.
Nimba’s administrative head, who was appointed by Sirleaf, called on critics of the Sirleaf government to see the completion of the road as proof of her work.
“Let me add here quickly that those who say that the government is doing nothing should come and see Nimba County,†Zuagele told the gathering. “Come and see what the Unity Party-led government of her Excellency, Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and her Vice President, His Excellency Joseph N. Boakai is delivering to the people of Nimba.â€
Zuagele asserted that the people of Nimba did not need a rocket scientist to show the level of development that is being undertaken by the government.
He added, “We are riding very smoothly. We are experiencing reduced travel time, and our operators of transport equipment, including our very loving pen-pen riders, are now saving money from the drop in maintenance cost.â€
Zuagele also used the opportunity to advise Sirleaf on the county’s development plan for 2016. He suggested the rehabilitation of major feeder roads in the county and the construction of several standard elementary schools be a part of the County’s development plan.
The Gbarnga to Ganta-Guinea border road is part of a larger effort to rehabilitate the road between Monrovia and the Guinea border. The project is being funded by the European Union.
A press release from the European Union Delegation to Liberia said the European Union Chargé d’Affaires, Emma Sundblad, said the EU had contributed over US$75 million to constructing the Monrovia to Guinea border road.
