Autopsy Report of Woman Found Dead in Police Custody Still Unreleased

MONROVIA, Montserrado – The Justice Ministry has yet to release the autopsy report of Victoria Zayzay, who was found dead in police custody.

Following a protest by the Women in Peacebuilding Network or WIPNET against the wave of killings across the country, Liberia’s Justice Minister Benedict Sannoh promised that the findings of the autopsy performed on the 21-year-old woman who died in a police cell would be in the country on Dec. 11.

The Bush Chicken on Dec. 16 caught up with three officials of WIPNET in Sinkor — Bernice Freeman, Delphine Morris and Cecelia T. Danuweli — following a meeting with Liberia’s Solicitor General Betty Lamie and asked them about their visit to the Justice Ministry.

WIPNET has been engaging the Justice Ministry on the autopsy reports of Victoria Zayzay, the four-year-old Alvin Moses and 7-year-old Ruben Paye, who were found dead and reports of rapes and killings of children.
