MONROVIA, Montserrado – South African ABSA Premiership club, Mpumalanga Black Aces, has loaned Liberian international striker, Kpah Sherman to the National First Division side Santos Football Club for the remainder of the 2015-2016 football league season.
Sherman joined Black Aces on a three-year deal back in Aug. 2015 from the Tanzania Premier League outfit Young African Sports Club. But the 23-year-old striker has since struggled for playing time at Aces.
Aces Turkish head coach, Muhsin ErtuÄŸral prefers playing the ABSA Premiership leading goal scorer Collins Mbesuma rather than Sherman, who failed to net for Aces in five league appearances.
From Aces’ seventeen Premiership games so far this season, Sherman made just five appearances, two starts and three as a substitute.
Sherman had a remarkable 2013-2014 league season with Northern Cyprus league team, Lefke Türk Spor Kulübü when in he netted 24 times in both league and cup matches. He is yet to discover his scoring form since his departure from the northern Cypriot side.
During the 2014-2015 league season, he scored six times from 16 appearances as he helped Young African Sports Club to win Tanzania premier league.
Santos finished 5th in the South African National First Division last season and are currently seated at 10th with 18 points from 16 games, 17 points behind league leader Baroka.
Sherman commended the Aces for giving him the opportunity of going on loan so that he’ll play regularly. He also vowed to help Santos finish at least in the top five and help them to Nedbank Cup glory.
“The most important thing every footballer needs is playing time. Unfortunately, I wasn’t regular at Aces, but thanks that they have given me the opportunity to seek first team football. As a footballer, it’s a challenge, and I look forward facing it. Now I’m a Santos player. The team isn’t at its best so far this season, and I hope my inclusion in the squad will help the team finish the season in a better position, maybe in the top five. We are still in the Nedbank Cup. We were drawn with Mthatha Bucks. Hopefully, we can win and reach the last 16 and gradually make our way through to next rounds,” Sherman told The Bush Chicken.
Sherman is expected to make his Santos debut on Feb. 5.
