GANTA, Nimba – An administrative district league aimed at selecting players that will be featured on Nimba’s team in this year’s County Meet has just ended, with 48 players shortlisted.
They will be further evaluated before the county narrows down the list to the final 25 players who will play in the kick-off game on December 3, 2016, in Grand Cape Mount.
Following the climax of the league at the Ganta Sports Pitch, a spokesperson for Nimba’s superintendent, Paul K. Karnue, presented the trophy to the winners of the league, Mehpea-Mahn Administrative District.
“We hope these players will be used and will be trained to fully represent Nimba County at the County meet,†Karnue said.
Nimba’s head coach, Muta Fofana, said he would begin evaluating the shortlisted players as soon as possible.
“Early preparation will put us in a better chance as we look forward to selecting our final 25-man for the County Meet,†he added.
Nimba was drawn alongside Montserrado, River Cess, and Sinoe in Group three of the upcoming County Meet. All games of the group stage will be played in Nimba’s capital of Sanniquellie.
