GREENVILLE, Sinoe – German NGO Welthungerhilfe has donated two motorcycles to the Sinoe County Health Team to assist in community engagement in the fight against the Coronavirus.

Making the donation on Monday, March 23 in Greenville, Jacqueline Harris, Welthungerhilfe’s national partner advisor, said the organization was responding to challenges with logistics that it saw within the county health team.

“We all have a role, one way or another, in preventing the Coronavirus from spreading in the country; but this can’t be achieve in the absence of adequate support to the health sector that is already challenged,” she said.

Harris said the motorcycles cost about US$2,000 and said her institution would be contributing more to the Sinoe County Health Team.

She called on all Liberians to join forces with the government to eradicate Coronavirus in the country: “This is the time that Liberians need to wake up and not to sit and speculate.”

Sinoe’s county health officer, Dr. Jonathan Flomo, thanked the German group for its assistance at a crucial time.

“Even before this outbreak in Liberia, WHH has been a very supportive partner to the Sinoe County Health Team in several areas ranging from construction and maintenance of clinics, paving access of major pathways of roads leading to several of our clinics in the county,” Flomo said.

Flomo called for more support to the county health team, nothing that the team would need fuel and stationeries to carry out community outreach about the Coronavirus.

In a related development, Sinoe’s Superintendent Lee Nagbe Chea has donated 40 handwashing buckets to the Sinoe County Health Team.

Chea said the donation would help the public adhere to the Ministry of Health’s guidelines for constant handwashing. He asked that all people in Sinoe abide by health rules and regulations.
