KAKATA, Margibi – Local authorities in Margibi have denied reports that there are increased waves of ritualistic activities taking place in the county despite reports from a local advocacy group, the National Conscious Youth Alliance, that such practices were on the rise.
Margibi’s superintendent, John Buway, told Journalists in Kakata on Wednesday that over the last three months, there were three cases of missing individuals. However, security authorities say that the three reported missing persons have been reunited with their families.
Buway said that other than the three missing cases, the police reported a case involving two ladies who were allegedly assaulted on the Bong Mines and Wauneta Roads. He said some of the alleged perpetrators involving the both incidents had been arrested and taken to court.
Except those cases, Buway said, security authorities in the county have reported having no knowledge of any case of ritualistic acts as it was being reported.
Of late, the Executive Director of the National Conscious Youth Alliance, Blama Siryon, told Journalists that the corpse of an unidentified man was discovered with parts of the body extracted. He said the body later mysteriously disappeared after citizens raised alarms.
He condemned the alleged criminal activities and called upon the security apparatus and county officials to quickly intervene.
Margibi Chief for Police, Augustine Warrie, has not confirmed the reports.
He, however, told citizens in a recent interview with local journalists to be mindful amid complaints of ritualistic activities.
The Bush Chicken was not able to get any eyewitnesses to confirm the reports of the said dead bodies.
