Abu Kamara Scores First Feronikeli’s Goal

MONROVIA, Liberia – The Kosovo Super League defending champions’ newly signed Liberian striker Abu Razard Kamara may have come from the little Asian state of Laos, where their football league is far below the standard of some of Europe’s lower tier, but the striker has started to show his quality in front of the goal for his new employer.

The former Black Star FC striker registered his name on the score sheet for the first time in the league after scoring in the 68th minute to help his club KF Feronikeli to a whopping 6-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table team Hajvalia in round 22 of the 2016-17 Kosovo Super League.

Prior to the match against the relegated side, Feronikeli was six points behind league leader Trepca 89 and needed a win to keep their title hopes alive.

Mendurim Hoti gave Feronikeli the lead in the 17th minute before Yii Hoxha made it two three minutes later. Kamara’s Feronikeli ensured they went to the break as the better side when they extended the score to 3-0 in the final minute of the first half through Mark Milicaj.

After the break, the visitors replied with a goal from the spot kick through Edison Kqiku in the 56th minute before Kamara netted the fourth goal for his side with clinical finish in the 68th minute. The 19-year-old brilliantly collected the ball and make his way between two of Hajvalia’s defenders before dribbling passed goalkeeper Betim Halimi to place the ball into an empty net.

Feronikeli got its final two goals through Mark Milicaj, who got his second of the match in the 70th minute and Fidan Gerbeshi, who scored on a penalty.

The victory keeps Feronikeli in second place, but with 48 points, it is still three points behind league leaders Trepca.

Kamara, who scored his first goal in his second appearance told The Bush Chicken after the match that he was excited about scoring his first league goal and is hoping for more to finish among the top scorers.

Despite being 16 goals behind the Kosovo Super League leading goal scorer, Otto John, the two-time Lao Premier League leading goal-scorer is confident in his ability to finish as the league’s highest goal scorer, or at least finishing among the top scorers.

“I feel very happy scoring my first goal today. I’m not surprised that I was able to score in my second appearance because I have worked harder for it,” Kamara said. “Before scoring, there were many chances for me but I was unlucky to convert all of them. I have already got my first and I’m confident of getting more in the remaining games. I feel I can finish as the top scorer of the league or among the top three. It’s something that looks difficult, but I will sacrifice for it.”
