After more than a year without a club, veteran Liberian midfielder Dulee Johnson has made his return to active football after signing with Norwegian fourth-tier club, Lyn Fotball. Johnson joined the club as a free agent on a six-month deal for an undisclosed amount.
Johnson has been without a club since he was released by the top-flight Norwegian club, IK Start, in January 2017. Before joining Lyn Fotball, he featured for more than ten clubs in Africa and Europe, where he played at the highest level including the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.
Lyn confirmed the signing of the former AIK Solna midfielder via its official website. Sporting Director Rolf-Magne Walstad was delighted about Johnson joining the club. He described the signing as an important one for the club.
“Dulee’s experience from Champions League and as a champion of the Allsvenskan [Swedish top league] is important for us. We know where we’ve been thinking, and the signature of Dulee will help us get what we want,†Walstad told the club’s website.
Johnson is expected to serve the club in two capacities – as a player and as overseer of the club’s academy.
“I am very pleased with the opportunity here and hope we will get something good together,†Johnson told the club’s website after completing the deal.
