GANTA, Nimba – Mayor Benjamin Dokpa has outlined key projects for 2016. The mayor detailed the construction of a playground and a modern city hall for Ganta.
He spoke to a journalist from the Voice of Gompa and The Bush Chicken at his office during the week in Ganta.
“Our prospect for 2016 here at [Gompa City Corporation] is to see the commencement of a playground for the city and to raise the first set of money to begin the Gompa City Hall project,†Dopka said.
He revealed that the proposal for the playground is already in progress and the city is in search of local and international partners to help with the implementation process. The estimated budget of the project is around US$75-100,000.
Dokpa disclosed that a major source of funding for the projects was the Nimba County administration. He said at this year’s county council sitting, his office will plead with both the council delegates and the Nimba County Legislative Caucus to create a budget that will see the commencement of the projects, especially the Ganta City Hall project.
“Bulk of the money for the projects is expected to come from Nimba’s County and Social Development Funds. This will be our plead at the council sitting to both the Nimba Legislative Caucus and delegates of the council sitting,†Dokpa added.
Dokpa said he would achieve his vision to see these projects completed during his tenure as mayor.
