LFA Sets Date for Cote D’Ivoire Match

MONROVIA, Montserrado – The Liberia Football Association, through its Acting Secretary General Emmanuel O. Deah, has announced that Liberia will host the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire in the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifiers at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia on November 14.

Earlier, it was reported that the Lone Star would face Cote D’ Ivoire on November  11.

The report confirms that the match would be played during the week, just like the first leg of Liberia’s meeting with Guinea-Bissau, which was played on a Thursday.

The draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Competition for the African Zone took place on 25 July in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The home and away matches in the second preliminary round were scheduled to take place between November 9 and 17, 2015.

The 20 teams that advance from the second round will be divided into five groups of four teams to play home and away round matches. The winners of each group will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Liberia is yet to defeat the Elephants at a senior level in all competitions. The two sides met 14 times, resulting in 11 wins for the Elephants while three matches ended in draws.
