Yourvor Kolllie’s outgoing administration came to power after the 2014 elections without several key positions being contested for. Candidates failed to meet up with constitutional requirement of a bachelor’s degree and being married before contesting. In 2016, when the constitution was amended to remove both prerequisites, a by-election was held to bring in power the vice president for administration, the vice president for operations, and the assistant secretary general.
The by-elections brought to power Amie T. Wisseh as vice president for administration, Evan B. Somah as the vice president for operations and current presidential candidate, Emmanuel Surprise Whea, as assistant secretary general.
