GANTA, Nimba – First Lady Clar M. Weah is paying a two-day visit to Nimba, where she is expected to meet disabled and disadvantaged communities.
Disclosing the information on Tuesday morning, Ganta’s Mayor Amos Suah said the first lady will be meeting with women’s groups and orphanages and will not be expected to travel beyond the city.
Weah is expected to meet with the disabled community in Ganta and visit patients at the tuberculosis and leprosy colony centers in the Rehab Community.
“She is the mother of the land, and when she visits you, we know that she will do something,†Suah said. “She will be meeting with the children from orphanage homes, the market women, our disabled community, and the concerned women; but today, she will first be meeting with the Baptist Women at the Trumpet Baptist Church.â€
The mayor called on residents of the city to ensure that the city is kept as clean as possible in light of Weah’s visit. He cautioned shops and store owners not to dump debris on Main Street: “We need to keep the city clean for the visit of the first lady; that’s why I have come to call upon you—let us work together for the betterment of our community.â€
Suah said it is a blessing for the city to have the first lady and he called on residents to assemble in large numbers along Main Street to give the first lady a rousing welcome into the city.
Since becoming Liberia’s first lady in January, this is Weah’s first official visit to Ganta, Liberia’s second most populous city.
