Numerous sources say that a number of top European clubs have opened discussions with Swedish top tier club, Djurgardens IF, to sign Liberian international Sam Johnson.
The Swedish giants have already reportedly turned down several bids from clubs in Germany, France and Italy due to Djurgadens unwillingness to sell one of their prized assets owing to a scarcity of strikers.
However, Spanish La Liga giant Sevilla Football Club, Scottish Premiership champions Celtic Football Club, and Russian Premier League giant Spartak Moscow are still battling to land the impressive Liberian forward during this summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has already stated that he is flattered by being linked with a move to top European football leagues, but is willing to respect his contract at Djurgardens, which runs till 2018.
“Of course, I am very pleased to hear that. I would like to test myself in a strong championship, but it will happen when it should happen,†Johnson told The Bush Chicken. “Djurgardens decides everything that will happen; our leadership will decide my future. If they agree on something, I will go and then move. If they consider that I stay, I will stay because I am happy here.”
Sam Johnson joined Djurgardens back in January 2015 after spending two years with Swedish division one side IK Frej. Since his move to Djurgardens, Johnson has displayed brilliantly at the Stockholm-based club.
The fast moving attacker netted goals ten times in the Swedish top tier league in his debut season. He currently sits sixth on the Allsvenskan scoring chart with seven goals from twelve appearances, three less than the leading goal scorer, Marcus Antonsson, who has netted ten times.
