MONROVIA, Montserrado – Liberia football second division club Barack Young Controller II ended their 2015 league season in grand style on Saturday evening after dumping first division Monrovia Club Breweries 3-2 in a penalty shootout at the famous Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
Though Club Breweries controlled much of the game, BYC II goalkeeper Alpha Jalloh, who was the hero of the day, made brilliant saves that denied the “Beer Boys” from getting a goal in the 90 minutes and the extra time.
Jalloh, who is known for his excellent penalty saves, denied Club Beer three times in the post match penalties to hand BYC II their second FA Cup glory in three years.
BYC II won the FA cup back in 2012 after an emphatic 1-0 win over Watanga FC. This current victory means that the club will pocket the amount of L$562,500 (US$6,392) as the cash prize for the winner and will represent Liberia in the 2016 Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup.
