With the winter transfer window looming, there are signs that Liberian striker William Jebor is set to move back to Europe.
After two disappointing seasons in Europe with Portuguese Primeira Liga club Rio Ave and Spanish second tier club Ponferradina, Jebor joined Wydad Athletics, a Moroccan team, on a one-year loan prior to the 2016-17 season. He made himself a significant figure within the club.
With 11 goals in ten league appearances, Jebor has become a wanted man for French League One clubs Stade Rennais and FC Metz, who are competing to sign the Monrovia native. According to the Moroccan website Lions De l’Atlas, Egyptian premier league giant Zamalek SC is also watching Jebor closely.
The 2016 CAF Champions League runner-up has been in the race to sign the Liberian center forward since his days with fellow Egyptian club, El-Geish. Following his breakthrough year during the 2012-2013 season where he scored 10 goals in 14 league appearances, Jebor almost joined Zamalek but he made a last-minute switch to Rio Ave in Portugal.
With five months remaining on his current contract with Rio Ave, Jebor could remain with Wydad until the end of the season and move to a new club as a free agent during the 2017 summer transfer window.
