UNIFICATION TOWN, Margibi – A candidate for representative of Margibi’s second district, Ivar Kokulo Jones, has donated several consignments of pharmaceutical drugs to six medical institutions.
The six medical institutions include the Karwah Memorial Healthcare Center in Unification Town, the Roberts International Airport Clinic, the Dolo Town Health Center, the Peter Town Health Center, the Lisnow Maternity Clinic in Barclay Farm, and the Life Line Medical Clinic in Cotton Tree.
Jones, who is also the chief executive officer and founder of Favor Marketing, Inc., made the donation on Saturday, July 22, 2017. During the presentation, he said the drugs cost L$172,000 (US$1,509) and would help Liberians who cannot afford to pay for treatment at clinics in Margibi.
He said the medical supply was a response to a request made by medical institutions in Lower Margibi. He expressed hope that the drug would go a long way in enhancing the operations of those clinics that received them.
Receiving the supplies, the heads of the respective benefiting clinics lauded Jones for the gesture, adding that it was timely, especially at a time where they are faced with drug shortages.
They used the occasion to call on other Liberians to emulate Jones’ example.
Administrators at various government-run health facilities in the county have been complaining about drug shortages due to delays from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in supplying them on time.
Jones is vying to replace Rep. Ballah Zayzay, who was elected in 2008 after the death of former Margibi lawmaker Flasher Chideyou. His company retails scratch cards for telecommunications firms and has eight branches across the country.
