Myanmar-based Liberian striker Keith Nah has set his sights on the Golden Boot after firing against Rakhine to inspire his Yadanarbon club to a 2-0 away win.
Yadanarbon is currently at the top of the Myanmar National League and Nah is the league’s top scorer, with eleven goals (two goals more than Win Naing Soe).
But Nah says that he is just warming up, adding that his best is still to come.
“Before the league started, I told myself I wanted to win the Golden Boot,†he said. “I still have to push myself to find more goals and continue working on my strength and finishing.”
The 20-year-old won the Myanmar second division Golden Boots in 2013 with 18 goals while he was at Chin United Football Club. He missed out on the top scorer prize in 2014 with 25 goals after he finished behind Brazilian striker Cesar Augusto, who netted 26 for Yangon United.
Nah joined Malaysia Premier League side Kedah FA in 2015 after spending two years in Myanmar. His career in Malaysia came to an end six months later after he was dropped from Kedah’s first team.
During his time with Kedah, Nah scored three league goals and provided two assists in from ten matches.
He returned to Myanmar stronger than ever in the same 2015, inspiring his new team Yadanarbon to the finals of the Myanmar FA Cup.
“Yadanarbon is a big team team, so the fan base and expectations are much bigger,†said the Liberian, who has set a target of over 20 goals this season. “But I am loving life here; I know what the management wants from me, and I have every intention to deliver.”
Nah was unstoppable at times at the Wai Thar Stadium, with his brute strength and hold up play always opening spaces for Yadanarbon.
The skillful forward put Yadanarbon up in the 26th minute, before assisting Myo Ko Tun in the 56th minutes to double their lead.
The win keeps Yadanarbon on top of the Myanmar National League with 41 points from 15 games, 16 points over second place Magwe Football Club.
