MONROVIA, Montserrado – The Liberia National County Sports Meet will return to the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex five years after any county meet games were played in the arena.
The stadium will witness counties compete in the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final games.
A week of group matches has concluded with surprising results, including Grand Bassa and Grand Gedeh failing to make the quarterfinals. The next stage of the competition, which will feature eight football teams and eight kickball teams, is expected to be played for two days.
It will begin on Saturday, April 14 and ends the following day, Sunday, April 15. Four games, which includes two in the kickball category and two in the football category, will be played on each day as the ministry looks forward to concluding the tournament on the 22nd of April.
Kickball giants, Nimba, will take on Bomi in the first kickball match at 1:00 p.m. before Grand Cape Mount battles Lofa in the final kickball battle of the day.
Nimba’s football team will continue their fight for their first title since 2011 when they go against 2013 football champions Grand Cape Mount in the first football match. Bomi and Bong will end the day’s action when they meet each other in the last match on Saturday.
The last actions in the quarterfinals will come live on Sunday when Margibi takes on Grand Kru in the first kickball match. Grand Bassa’s kickball team will be hoping to keep the smiles on the faces of Bassa fans when they play southeastern side, Maryland.
Football defending champions, Montserrado, will continue their title defense against River Gee. Sinoe’s search for their first football title will continue on Sunday in the final quarterfinals game when they play 2012 champions, Margibi County.
