Defense Minister Donates over US$3,000 of Building Materials in Nimba Town

KARNPLAY, Nimba – Liberia’s Defense Minister Brownie J. Samukai has donated some materials to the people of Behplay Town in Nimba’s Gbehlay-Geh district for the construction of a town hall.

According to report gathered from Radio Karn reporter Danny Wantee in Karnplay, the items are worth over US$3,000 dollars and were made available to the people of Behplay through Statutory Superintendent D. Bartuah Bartuah.

Wantee said this gesture from the Defense Minister was in fulfillment of a promise made in January of this year when he had visited the region to pay an unofficial visit to the people.

“It was on the first of January 1, 2016, during a tournament that Liberia’s Defense Minister, Brownie J. Samukai made some promises,” Wantee said.

He said since Jan. 1, there had not been any information from the minister about this promise until March 12th when Bartuah brought in the supplies.

“All the items brought in are meant for construction purposes, including cement, metal roofing sheets, paint, and nails,” Wantee noted.

He said the people of Behplay town had earlier requested the assistance of the minister for the construction of a town hall, and that was how he responded to their request.

The people of Behplay Town had a conference hall in the past, but it depreciated over time.
