Liberian national Eric Weeks moved to Malaysian club Perak FA in January 2016, after spending a couple of years playing in Indonesia. His previous clubs include Persiwa Wamena, Sriwijaya, Mitra Kukar and Pusamania Borneo FC.
Since his move, he has yet to achieve the level of success he experienced with past clubs.
Perak FA has been struggling to win in the Super League, with just two wins from nine league matches.
The club’s only success so far this season came in the Malaysia FA Cup where they managed to reach the semifinals of the competition.
Their participation in the FA Cup came to an end over the weekend, after a defeat to Selangor PKNS FC.
After securing a 2-2 draw away at PKNS in the first leg, Perak needed to avoid defeat at home to make the finals of the competition.
However, they failed to stop PKNS from reaching the finals after suffering a 2-1 loss. The defeat to PKNS meant they had to bow out of the competition on a 3-4 aggregate.
Perak will travel away to Royal Malaysia Police Association Football Club in round ten of Malaysia’s Super League. Weeks is confident that his team will get a win to put behind them what he describes as “bad luck.”
“We are out. We can’t do anything about that now. We played well in the first leg and also the second leg. All we needed was to just avoid defeat, but unfortunately, we lost. We have to move on. It’s all part of football. Now, we are heavily focusing on our next league match. We are going away and we are going to win. We have to win to get back to business. We have to make our fans smile and put behind us the bad luck,” said Weeks.
A win away at Royal Malaysia Police Association Football Club will be Perak’s third league victory of the 2016 Malaysia Super League.
