Zorzor, Lofa – The Ministry of Internal Affairs has set up a special committee to investigate the March 4 murder case, which led to the burning of some homes and business centers in Zorzor.
The minister of Internal Affairs, Morris Dukuly, named William Howard as chairman of the Lofa Peace Committee. Dukuly also appointed the chairman of Youth Talk-Liberia and manager of the Primary HealthCare Project of the Curran Lutheran Hospital, Titus Koikoi as secretary-general.
However, an individual close to Koikoi has informed the Bush Chicken that Koikoi has decided to resign from the special committee. When contacted, Koikoi declined to comment on the issue at the moment.
Dukuly made the announcement on Zorzor’s Radio Life. He said President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has given the committee two weeks to investigate the issue and produce a report. The committee is responsible for suggesting appropriate actions towards those involved in the rioting.
Also speaking on the radio, Howard promised to effectively carry out the mandate of the government without bias. Callers to the program expressed their frustration on what they say is the government’s attention to investigating the rioters rather than arresting the alleged criminal, Abodu Camara. Camara is believed to have fled to Guinea.
