Last Week in Photos-Dec. 2-8

MONROVIA, Montserrado – A pictorial review of last week’s activities.

The Liberian government and European Union entered in a €18.9 million (about US$21.5 million) contract agreement with MBH Power Limited-Nigeria for the design and construction of electricity distribution network in Monrovia.

The project will help address the increased demand for energy in various parts of the city. About 38,000 small households in Monrovia and its immediate environs are expected to benefit from the project.

The state-owned University of Liberia graduated more than 3,300 students last week from its various departments and disciplines.

The commencement convocation witnessed that graduation of 221 new classroom teachers from the William V.S. Tubman Teachers College, amid the shortage of professional teachers currently in classrooms across the country. Women topped the number of new graduates.

The Liberia National Police arrested James Larmin Kargbo, a 41-year-old Sierra Leonean for attempted theft, money laundering, fraud, impersonation, among other offenses.

Kargbo was arrested on Thursday, December 6 following a tip from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

The suspect and other accomplices yet to be identified had been masquerading as business people who wanted to provide a grant to the government for road development.

The Liberian Bank for Development and Investment recently honored several employees in different categories for their valuable service to the institution.
