Latvian Club Signs Two Liberian Players

A few days after Kosovan club KF Feronikeli announced signing Nicolas Andrews and Prince Balde from Monrovia Club Breweries, Latvian club FS Metta has announced that it signed two more Liberians.

The club announced signing Barrack Young Controller Football Club captain Van-Dave Harmon and former Nimba United and FC Fassell winger Sunnyboy Dolo. Barrack Young Controller confirmed Harmon’s signing via twitter while Dolo’s move to FS Metta was announced by Nimba United via Facebook.

According to BYC, Harmon joined FS Metta on a two-year deal. The striker completed the move after a few weeks on trials, convincing FS Metta’s technical staff during one of his test games with a hattrick.

Both clubs kept the details of the financial agreement for Harmon secret, but it is believed that the three-time Liberian league champions will reap 25 to 35 percent of a future sale.

Harmon’s move to FS Metta makes it his second foreign club in his soccer career, while compatriot Dolo will be playing professional football for his first time outside Liberia. Two years after his transfer to Barrack Young Controller from ELWA United, Harmon completed a half-year loan deal to the top Senegalese club Diambars FC. He failed to make an impact after spending most of the time on the sideline due to an injury.

Meanwhile, Dolo’s long-term dream of playing football outside of Liberia has been achieved. The fast-moving attacker came close to playing in Europe in 2016 after attending trials with Slovenian club, NK Rudar. He failed to conclude a deal with the Slovenian side and returned to Liberia, where he continued his career with FC Fassell.

The two players are expected to make their debut on Monday, July 30 when FS Meta plays away at Spartaks Jurmala in round 16 of the Latvian Virsliga. The club is currently seated second from the bottom on an eight-team table with just four points from 15 games. They have managed to draw only four of their 15 games played in the league. The club is still in search of their first win of the 2018 league season.
