HARBEL, Margibi – The International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, has granted voting rights to Liberia at its 40th session, which is currently taking place in Montreal, Canada.
The Liberia Airports Authority disclosed that the decision to restore the country’s voting rights followed payments of its arrears at the organization’s ongoing conference. The Airports Authority will now be able to participate in all decisions of the organization.
ICAO is the global body responsible for airport facilities compliance, including air navigation capacity and efficiency, security and facilitation, economic development of air transport, and environmental protection.
A 12-person delegation from Liberia is currently attending the conference, including the Airports Authority’s managing director, Allen Klayee, and the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority’s director-general, Emmanuel Nuquay.
“The assembly began on September 24th and runs up to the 4th of October, at which time our delegation is expected to return home,†the press release from the Airports Authority said.
“The team has already had some gains, as Liberia has regained her right to vote and participate in all activities of the world aviation sector’s governing body. This is as a result of the able representation made by our team from both the LAA and the LCAA.â€
