Liberian striker Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh has bid farewell to Malaysian Super League club PKNS FC after the organization opted not to extend his stay.
Wleh joined PKNS in 2013 after a stunning debut season in Malaysian football with Premier League side, Sime Darby. He spent four seasons with the Red Ants, one of which was on loan to rivals, Selangor FA.
His three-year contract expired at the end of the 2017 campaign, and the club declined to extend his contract after the 2017 season, where he managed to score just eight goals from 20 league matches.
Before leaving, the former LISCR FC striker sent a touching message to his teammates, club administrators, and fans.
Via his Facebook page, the 26-year-old striker officially thanked PKNS for the opportunity given him over the years. He described his time at the club as an enjoyable moment and said he would love to return in the future.
“Four years with this club, all I can say is thank you. Playing for PKNS was an opportunity I wished for, and I enjoyed every time with the club,†he wrote. “PKNS wasn’t just a football team to me, but a real family in which I found love. Thanks to the staff, the administrators, and also the fans that believed in my abilities. I wish the club a better luck in the next years to come and hope to be part of this club’s history again. As long as I live, there will always be a special place in my heart for the Red Ants. The name PKNS FC will forever be written in my heart.â€
Wleh scored 44 goals in 75 appearances for PKNS in the four seasons. While his next destination is unknown, Wleh told The Bush Chicken that he would prefer to remain in Malaysia if the right offer comes.
“There have been offers from some club, but I’m looking at the options,†he said. “I will make a decision at the appropriate time. I have enjoyed my time in Malaysia with the people and their culture. I don’t know what the future holds, but I would love to play here in Malaysia.â€
