Liberian striker Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh’s return to Malaysian football started fruitful after his team, Royal Malaysia Police Football Association, commonly called PDRM FA, got promoted from the Malaysian Premier League to the Super League after the climax of the 2019 league season.
The Kuala Lumpur-based club finished third on the 2019 premier league table to book a place in the 2020 Malaysian Super League. They finished the league with 30 points from 22 games, 13 points behind champions, Sabah FA, and three points behind Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club II, which will not get promoted to the top flight of Malaysian football because they are the feeder team to Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club that competes in the Malaysian Super League.
With the two top teams qualifying at the end of the season, third-placed PDRM FA joined Sabah FA as promoted teams, taking the promotion slot of Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club II.
Wleh scored six goals and provided five assists in 19 games to help his side gain promotion. He returned to Malaysian football in February after a short stint with Florinia FC in the Maltese Premier League.
